Gabo
Gabo is a Spanish industrial designer who completed his studies at Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid and Milan. After completing his studies, he worked with Luis Vidal + Architects and later at Álvaro Catalán’s design studio, ACdO. After these experiences, he embarked on his own projects, developing a series of lamps under the brand descolom (now renamed byGabo), and alongside his sister Lidia Mascaró opening STUDIO 67 in Malasaña: a space for creation and exhibition for young artists.
Since childhood, Gabo suffered from migraines, making him hypersensitive to light. As a result of this photosensitivity, he modified lamps in his youth, developing a unique relationship with lighting from a young age. Alongside his fascination for objects, he began creating his own lamps. The construction of the objects takes center stage in his work, ensuring that the structure is its main morphological attraction, drawing inspiration from Poul Henningsen, Ingo Maurer, Alberto Meda, and retrofuturism.
